A greenhouse buying application: purchase math, a Finder, and spec-verified comparisons.
The problem
Buying a greenhouse is a math problem in disguise: size to fit the space, heater BTUs for the climate zone, ventilation CFM, glazing trade-offs, budget. Vendor spec sheets are inconsistent and unverifiable, and existing greenhouse content was article-shaped rather than tool-shaped.
The system
A Laravel buying application rather than an article site. A spec-normalized catalog (115 greenhouse kits, 61 equipment items) where unknown fields fail closed instead of being invented; eleven interactive tools that do the actual purchase math — size, heater-BTU, fan-CFM, shade cloth, heating cost, soil volume, glazing chooser, roofline selector, comparison builder, and a Finder that ranks matches by space, budget, climate and use; USDA grow-zone calendars; and product-vs-product compare pages generated from the normalized database. Shipped through the same gated pipeline as the rest of the portfolio, 83-test Pest suite green at launch.
The result
The portfolio’s seventh vertical and its most tool-dense property: every buying decision is supported by a calculator instead of a guess, from sizing to seasonal heating cost.
